About Conceptlab

Technical Consulting Built on 25 Years of Real-World Experience

Conceptlab is a technical consulting practice focused on .NET applications and SQL Server environments. The work is not building new software from scratch. It is diagnosing difficult problems, fixing what is broken, improving what is slow, and helping businesses understand and manage the software they depend on.

The background is approximately 25 years in software development and IT, with strong experience in Microsoft technology — C#, .NET, ASP.NET, SQL Server — and a particular focus on business applications that have to work reliably in production environments. This includes both older systems built on .NET Framework and ASP.NET, and more modern applications using .NET Core, REST APIs and contemporary architectural patterns.

A significant part of the work involves systems that other developers are reluctant to touch — legacy applications with limited documentation, inherited codebases, systems with undiscovered dependencies, and databases that have grown complex over years of business change. This is deliberate. These systems represent real business investment and often cannot simply be replaced.

Conceptlab works independently and alongside existing development teams. Remote consulting is fully supported.

Technical Focus

The core technical areas are the Microsoft .NET ecosystem, SQL Server in production environments, legacy application diagnosis and improvement, performance analysis, and production troubleshooting. These are connected areas — .NET applications typically use SQL Server, and problems in one often manifest in the other.

This is not a general software agency. The focus is deliberate because the depth that comes from specialisation matters in diagnostic work. A broad generalist can implement new features. Diagnosing why a specific stored procedure plan is wrong after a data load requires specific knowledge of how SQL Server's query optimiser works and what changes affect plan selection.
